Bárbara Elum-Baldrés is a costume designer who is passionate about creating a unique visual representation for every character and the needs within each story. Her attention to detail means her work incorporates subtle but important features that highlight each individual character’s personality. Texture, movement, colour and open discussion with other departments all play an important role in creating the right visual language for a story.
Barbara has an extensive portfolio, ranging from contemporary dramas to large-scale period productions. Recent credits include the ITV drama Grace, Netflix’s African Queens: Queen Cleopatra, FBI: International for CBS, the Sky television series Gunpowder Siege, and the feature film The Trouble with Jessica starring Indira Varma, Rufus Sewell, Olivia Williams and Alan Tudyk.
She also worked as Co-Costume Designer on Diciannove, produced by Luca Guadagnino and premiered at the Venice Film Festival.
Originally from Spain and now based in London, Barbara has worked extensively across Europe, North Africa and the UK, leading creative teams and creating distinctive character-driven costumes for both contemporary and period productions.
Barbara is a graduate of the University of the Arts London (with degrees from London College of Fashion and Wimbledon College of Arts). She is a voting member of BAFTA and a proud member of Latinos in Costume.
